THE TRUTH AND NOTHIN BUT THE TRUTH ON JON IMEL:

 

Jon Imel is a freelance drummer for hire and a drum teacher living and teaching in Oceanside, California. He plays all over San Diego and Los Angeles. Those that have had the pleasure of Jon drumming live or in the studio with them are always impressed with his professionalism and solid rhythms in any style thrown at him. "It's like he has a built in metronome in his head." Jon is known for his laid back personality and his perfectionism to always play in the pocket. Live and in the studio, many songwriters and churches use Jon to play because of his ability to create strong dynamics in just in the right places. His drumming not only feels good but is true to the style and he never wavers from the correct tempos.  Jon is a skilled blues, jazz, funk and rock'n'roll drummer.

 

Jon also has a great understanding of church worship and all the different styles from old school to cutting edge rock worship. He has been playing in churches for over 20 years. He is currently on weekend staff as a drummer at Larry Osborn and Chris Brown's church, North Coast Church, in Vista, CA. which means he plays drums in one of their venues for all the services on weekends.

 

Jon is an incredible studio musician. His solid tempos and ability to make a song come to life with just the right dynamics are just the beginning of what he has to offer. He is reliable and easy to work with. Anyone that has hired Jon Imel is always stoked to have had the chance to work with him.

 

Jon Imel has taught private drum lessons for around 10 years and is back by popular demand this year teaching private lessons for beginners to advanced players of all ages.  Jon was trained in drumming in the L.A. area by renowned Jazz Independence teacher, Chuch Flores, in Hand by Wally Snow (Murry Spivack) and the well-known, Chuck Wackerman. Even with all the solid training he has under his belt, Jon Imel never stops learning which make him a great teacher of all ages, all styles and all levels. He has a few slot open right now on Mondays.

 

When asked who are his drummer influences, Jon is quick to rattle off, "John Bonham" and "Steve Gadd, Tommy Lee, Stanton Moore, Zigaboo Modeliste, Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Gene Drupa, Tony Williams, Stewart Copeland, David Garibaldi, Chris McHugh, Chad Smith, Benny Greb, Jeff Pocaro, Steve Jordan and Neil Peart."
